Opportunities for Community Engagement Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions) Analyze blueprints, specifications, proposals and other documents to prepare time, material, equipment, production and labor estimates. Prepare preliminary estimates for planning purposes and detailed estimates based on final plans and specifications. Consult with clients, vendors and others to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues. Maintain current and accurate information on prices from suppliers and contractors through direct contact and written proposals. Prepare bid packages, estimates and analysis of subcontractor bids for projects of any size and complexity. Physically measure, assess the condition, and formalize estimates for commercial projects. Manage projects awarded from scheduling, resource allocation, cost projections, and billing. Check daily cost sheets for correctness, compliance with estimated cost, and if over budget, find out why and report to management. Prior to job startup, review with the job foreman the project plans, specifications and review the project startup list to ensure that each item is done. Check that foreman’s job quantities are correct and submitted. Other tasks and duties as assigned to meet business needs. Regular and timely attendance. Participate in and promote an inclusive work environment. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Required Qualifications Must have a thorough knowledge of civil construction estimating skills and techniques including knowledge of asphalt paving, dirt work, excavation, underground utilities, and related areas; 7+ years of experience required. Candidates with civil experience that is closely related to estimating and/or project management may be considered; however, preference will be given to those with experience estimating civil projects. Basic familiarity with estimating software (Bid2Win or HCSS Heavybid) Ability to read and interpret heavy civil blueprints, specifications, and contracts. Proficient with PC & Microsoft Office systems, specifically Excel and Word. Strong customer service, leadership, problem-solving, decision making and organization skills. Valid Driver’s License. Safety-minded professional who demonstrates good performance, attendance and punctuality. Must pass pre-employment controlled substance testing. Demonstrates the ability to work some nights and weekends as needed. Demonstrates the ability to conform to and maintain OSHA, MSHA, DOT and all other company or state rules and regulations. Must have current US Authorization to work or ability to obtain without company assistance prior to start date. Physical Requirements The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
