About the Role

Our client, a real estate investment firm, is seeking a Senior Property Accountant to support the day-to-day accounting and financial reporting for a portfolio of commercial real estate assets across multiple funds. This role partners closely with Asset Management, Property Management, and the broader finance team to ensure accurate property-level reporting, support decision-making, and maintain strong financial controls.


Responsibilities

  • Maintain property-level accounting records for an assigned portfolio of commercial real estate assets, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial data
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and support the month-end close process, including preparing and posting journal entries and accruals
  • Partner with Property Managers and Asset Managers to review financial results, investigate variances, and ensure accurate tenant billing
  • Review and process accounts payable transactions, confirming proper coding and alignment with budgets and property activity
  • Oversee accounts receivable activity, including monitoring cash receipts, billing recurring tenant charges, and processing tenant billing adjustments
  • Run and review monthly rental billing reports to confirm accuracy and alignment with lease terms and operating budgets
  • Prepare CAM reconciliations and assist with tenant inquiries related to operating expense recoveries
  • Support financial reporting deliverables and assist with ad hoc accounting projects, analysis, and process improvements


Qualifications

  • 3–8 years of property accounting experience within real estate, property management, or real estate private equity
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Experience supporting commercial real estate portfolios
  • Strong understanding of property-level financial reporting, tenant billing, and operating expense recoveries
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience working in Yardi are required
