The Opportunity Black & Veatch’s Structural Team is seeking an experienced, creative, and highly talented Structural Engineer for employment. The candidate will function in the capacity of a senior-level engineer. This position focuses on the design of structures that support water purification and treatment facilities, with a specialized focus on industrial clients and projects. The engineer will design a variety of structural systems, lead with their design experience, and collaborate with other disciplines while delivering critical water infrastructure projects. BVs portfolio also allows participation in markets such as Power Generation, Industrial, Data Centers, and Power Delivery. Key Responsibilities Execute complex structural analysis, perform calculations, and prepare sketches and drawings for the design of water and wastewater treatment plants, industrial facilities, and other complex structural facilities. Supervise Structural Engineers (US and overseas) and work with Structural Technicians in the preparation of structural drawings and specifications. Lead larger production teams and serve as the responsible charge for projects. Perform construction phase engineering duties such as site visits, responding to RFIs, and reviewing contractor submittals. Perform project administrative tasks including design fee estimates, monitoring progress against budget and schedule, managing project changes, and implementing Black & Veatch Quality Control requirements. Coordinate work with architects and other discipline engineers. Lead a team to execute complex projects with construction values greater than $200M. Provide guidance on department design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes, and BV policies. Contribute to developing and updating engineering standards. Provide technical guidance to others on projects and disciplines. Support continuous improvement efforts and provide guidance to others. Implement resource management strategies, including managing resources for a small group. Management Responsibilities Supervises work of others. Responsible for hiring, discipline, and pay administration of subordinates. Qualifications Preferred Qualifications Master of Engineering or Master of Science from an ABET-accredited Structural Engineering program. Experience with alternative delivery methods such as EPC, Design Build, Progressive Design Build, and FEL/FEED. Experience supporting clients in Data Center, Food & Beverage, Semiconductors, Mining, Life Sciences, Power, Pharmaceutical, and Oil & Gas sectors. Familiarity with the latest editions of the International Building Code, ASCE 7, ACI 318, AISC Steel Construction Manual, and ACI 530. Proficiency with structural analysis software such as RISA 3D, STAAD.Pro, or SAP2000. Proficiency with non-structural software packages such as Bluebeam, ProjectWise, AutoCAD, and Revit. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited program or equivalent experience. Minimum of 11 years related work experience. Ability to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (background check, drug screen, motor vehicle records) where required by law. Active engineering registration or licensure to support engineer of record (EOR) requirements for BV projects in applicable countries. Certifications Active engineering registration or licensure to support engineer of record (EOR) requirements for BV projects in applicable countries. Compensation and Benefits Compensation is determined by factors including skills, experience, and geographic location. State-specific ranges may apply. The following are illustrative ranges and may vary by location: Colorado and Illinois: $148,852 – $248,578. Job grade: 017.
