Senior Software Engineer - API at U.S. Bank Job Description This position will be responsible for the analysis, design, testing, development and maintenance of best‑in‑class software experiences. The candidate is a self‑motivated individual who can collaborate with a team and across the organization. The candidate takes responsibility for the software artifacts produced adhering to U.S. Bank standards to ensure minimal impact to the customer experience. The candidate will be proficient in the agile software development lifecycle and DevOps principles. Essential Responsibilities Design, develop, test, operate and maintain products. Take full‑stack ownership by consistently writing production‑ready and testable code. Consistently create optimal designs adhering to architectural best practices; consider scalability, reliability and performance of systems/contexts. Analyze failures, propose design changes and encourage operational improvements. Make sound design/code decisions keeping customer experience in the forefront. Conduct code reviews to provide guidance on engineering best practices and compliance with development procedures. Ensure all aspects of product development follow compliance and security best practices. Embed software reliability engineering standards into development standards. Embrace emerging technology opportunities and contribute to best practices in support of the bank’s technology transformation. Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience. Five to six years of relevant experience. Preferred Skills / Experience Strong experience in Java EE design and development. Hands‑on experience in Microservices/API development using Java/Spring Boot. Experience in cloud‑native development in Azure, AWS, or GCP. Experience with streaming technologies such as Apache Kafka, Spark. Experience with NoSQL databases such as Cassandra, MongoDB. Experience with Jenkins/CloudBees, Apigee, Istio, Kubernetes, Rancher. Thorough understanding of a feature, the users impacted, the flows impacted and feature’s purpose. Proficient with agile software development lifecycle and DevOps principles. Ability to communicate processes and results with all parties involved in the product team. Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills. Location Expectations This role requires working from a U.S. Bank location three (3) or more days per week.
