Job DescriptionJob DescriptionThe RoleThe Compute Systems Software team is a dynamic and fast paced team that designs, develops, and maintains the foundational embedded software platform for SDV solutions, including drivers, operating system , BSP and software stack . Our team delivers platform solutions for high end SoCs which enables to run infotainment, ADAS, and other high compute application. We offer challenging positions for passionate professionals looking to advance their careers and be a part of an organization focused on innovation, speed, and business value.The OS Safety and Services team is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join our team to work on high-compute System-on-Chip (SoC) platforms. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in embedded systems design and development, particularly with Linux and Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) such as FreeRTOS or SafeRTOS, and experience working on safety-critical software development under the ASIL (Automotive Safety Integrity Level) standards. Candidate will work with engineering teams across the software services and SoC vendors to build and manage a shared vehicle compute platform.What You’ll DoDevelop software on a Real Time Operating System, like FreeRTOS based SafeRTOS.Develop software feature on Linux to control the powering and activation of devices and processes.Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, and integrationWork closely with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers and system architects, to ensure seamless integration of software with hardwareCollaborate with other engineers to optimize performance, memory usage, and power efficiency for high-performance embedded systemsContribute to the development of safety-critical software by applying best practices for embedded software development in automotive and other safety-critical domainsYour Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)5+ years of experience in Embedded Software DevelopmenExperience with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS), specifically FreeRTOS or SafeRTOSExperience in safety-critical software development with exposure to ASIL B and ASIL D standards (preferably in the automotive or industrial domain)Experience in Linux-based embedded operating systemsStrong proficiency in C/C++ programming for embedded systemsSolid understanding of embedded hardware architectures, including processors, memory management, and peripheralsKnowledge of communication protocols including Ethernet, I2C, and UARTSolid understanding of Linux Kernel Frameworks (DMA, V4L2, ALSA, UART)Experience deploying commercial embedded systemsFamiliarity with ARM architecturesExperience with bring-up /validation/system level testing of SoC’sEducationBachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or equivalentMaster’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or equivalent preferredAbout GMOur vision is a world with Zero Crashes, Zero Emissions and Zero Congestion and we embrace the responsibility to lead the change that will make our world better, safer and more equitable for all.Why Join UsWe believe we all must make a choice every day – individually and collectively – to drive meaningful change through our words, our deeds and our culture.
