Work Environment:

  • The position follows a hybrid work model: on-site work required Mondays and Tuesdays, with remote work allowed Wednesdays through Fridays.
  • On-site location: St. Paul, MN.

Position Overview:

A state agency is seeking a full-time Software Developer to assist with the modernization and ongoing support of an Archive Services application, including critical security updates and integration of Splunk technology. The role will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to rewrite the application, develop new features, and train others on the use of Splunk and modern technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Train the Software Development team on Splunk basics, including reporting, dashboards, events, search capabilities, APIs, creating Knowledge Objects, Data Models, and other enterprise-level concepts.
  • Collaborate with the team to develop a Splunk solution to modernize the Archive Services application.
  • Work closely with architects, business analysts, quality assurance teams, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical specifications.
  • Implement enterprise-level solutions while adhering to established application development and data security patterns.
  • Build, deploy, and test software applications using automated test and deployment tools.
  • Provide technical direction in identifying appropriate solutions that meet business objectives.
  • Review test cases and plans with QA staff and execute unit and integration testing procedures.
  • Clearly communicate complex technical concepts and introduce new technologies or methods to the team.
  • Establish strong partnerships with technical staff and senior team members, providing knowledge transfer and guidance.
  • Offer ongoing support, including troubleshooting, maintenance, and upgrades to the application.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience developing Splunk applications, APIs, dashboards, and logging.
  • 7+ years of experience developing ASP .NET MVC applications using C#.
  • 5+ years of experience writing unit tests (NUnit or JUnit).
  • 7+ years of experience with HTML/CSS, JavaScript, and CSS.
  • Strong experience with Entity Framework and writing T-SQL for MS SQL Server.
  • Knowledge of and experience in Agile Scrum development teams.
  • Experience developing Windows Services using .NET 4.0 or above.
  • Proficiency with XML schemas, XSLT, and REST/SOAP web services.
  • Experience working with Web APIs and DevOps tools for CI/CD pipelines.
  • Familiarity with front-end JavaScript libraries, especially Bootstrap 4/5 and jQuery.
  • Understanding of Domain-Driven Design (DDD) concepts.
  • Experience in law enforcement or criminal justice system applications is a plus.
