Senior SQL DBA

Senior Consultant Database Architecture The primary focus of this role is on database architecture and support of internal and client facing databases under the general supervision of local senior management. The Senior Consultant will collaborate with development teams and vendors to design, develop, implement, and operate database infrastructure in order to provide reliable and scalable database platforms. Responsibilities: Deliver expertise in the support and management of our mission-critical Microsoft SQL Server database platform environment Drive architecture for IaaS and PaaS database solutions. Evolve standards, ensure design best practices are up-to-date. Enforce compliance to standards. Manage inventory. Develop strategies for data integration, backup, and recovery, and implementation of databases cloud environments (AWS/Google/Azure). Perform system analysis on databases, resolve server performance, poor performing queries, capacity issues, backup and recovery issues, and data integration issues as necessary. When confronted with technical challenges, must find creative, economical, and elegant engineering solutions. Perform/automate database installs, upgrades, and patches. Work with third-party vendors to orchestrate database operations and project work. Write and maintain documentation. Other: Mentors and directs other more junior members of the team Performs other projects and duties as assigned or required Moderate amount of traveling – dependent on project requirements and team activities Job Requirements: BS/BA degree in computer science or related field; or business administration or mathematics with experience in database architecture, data analysis, and database maintenance and support Minimum 10 years of experience in the database engineering field Deep understanding of relational database theory Proficient in all aspects of Database Management and Maintenance Installation, Patching, Tuning (index strategies), Backup and Restore, etc. Proficient in cloud deployments (AWS, Google, or Azure) Proficient in ANSI SQL and statement tuning, MS T-SQL, and PowerShell scripting Experience in the following fields, technologies and tools: Relational database design and data security AWS, Google, or Azure data platform offerings MS SQL Server (2012 and above) and T-SQL (reporting, integration, and analysis services) Reporting, Integration, Analysis Services (SSRS & SSIS), Power BI
