- The Senior Cloud & Backup Infrastructure Engineer will lead the implementation of Veeam Backup for Microsoft Azure v8.1, replacing native Azure Backup across multiple commercial and Azure Government tenants and regions.
- The role is responsible for delivering a unified, enterprise‐ grade backup and recovery platform integrated with Veeam Backup & Replication (VBR) and Veeam ONE, including centralized reporting and incident management integration with the organization's existing ServiceNow platform.
- Responsibilities:Technical Leadership & Delivery
- Design and implement Veeam Backup for Microsoft Azure v8.1 across multiple Azure tenants (Commercial and Azure Gov).
- Replace native Azure Backup with a centralized, policy‐ driven Veeam solution.
- Integrate Azure backup workloads with Veeam Backup & Replication (VBR) for hybrid backup management and recovery operations.
- Integrate Veeam ONE for centralized monitoring, reporting, alerting, and operational visibility.
- Configure and validate Veeam ONE - ServiceNow integration for incident generation, event correlation, and operational workflows.
- Platform Scope:Protect and validate backups for:
- Azure IaaS virtual machines
- SQL Server workloads (VM‐ based and Azure PaaS)
- SAP HANA workloads
- Azure File Shares
- Design scalable architectures aligned with enterprise security, compliance, governance, and cost‐ optimization standards.
- Implement immutable backup configurations and centralized reporting across environments.
- Operational Readiness:Define and implement centralized backup policies, retention schedules, and tiering strategies.
- Configure standardized reporting for compliance, capacity, SLA adherence, and operational health.
- Perform backup and restore validation for key business‐ critical workloads.
- Produce as‐ built documentation, operational runbooks, and architecture diagrams.
- Conduct knowledge transfer and operational handoff sessions with internal engineering and support teams.
- Deliverables:Fully deployed and operational Veeam Backup for Microsoft Azure v8.1 platform.
- Integrated VBR and Veeam ONE solution with centralized management and monitoring.
- Configured Veeam ONE reporting and ServiceNow incident integration.
- Centralized backup policies and retention schedules across tenants and regions.
- Validated backup and restore testing for critical workloads.
- As‐ built documentation and operational knowledge transfer.
- Required Qualifications & Experience:Mastery‐ level experience with Veeam Backup & Replication.
- Hands‐ on experience implementing Veeam Backup for Microsoft Azure (v7.x or v8.x preferred).
- Strong experience with Veeam ONE, including monitoring, reporting, and alerting.
- Experience integrating monitoring tools with ServiceNow for incident and event management.
- Strong experience with Azure IaaS and PaaS, including:
- Azure VMs
- Azure SQL (VM and PaaS)
- Azure Storage and File Shares
- Experience working in Azure Government environments and multi‐ tenant architectures.
- Deep understanding of backup architecture, immutability, security, and compliance controls.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in complex, ambiguous environments.
