Senior Tax Manager Apply
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Team Management:
- Supervise and mentor a team of 3 Tax Associates, providing guidance on tax return preparation and review.
- Review associates' draft tax returns for accuracy and completeness. Ensure any necessary corrections or modifications are discussed and implemented before final submission.
- Approve completed associate tax return packages for final submission to the President/CEO for signature.
- Foster a collaborative environment and provide ongoing feedback to optimize associate performance.
- Tax Preparation and Planning:
- Prepare and review Federal and State income tax returns for individuals, S-Corporations, Limited Liability Companies (LLCs), and other entities.
- Conduct tax research and provide proactive tax planning advice to clients, helping them navigate complex tax laws and compliance requirements.
- Advise clients on a full spectrum of tax services, including tax strategies, deductions, allowances, and filing procedures.
- Analyze prior years' tax filings for accuracy and make necessary adjustments or recommendations.
- Client Communication and Support:
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, responding to inquiries and obtaining necessary documentation via phone, email, Zoom, or in person.
- Work with clients to understand their taxable income, deductible expenses, and any changes in their financial circumstances that may impact tax obligations.
- Tax Filing and Compliance:
- File tax returns and other required tax documents, including extensions and quarterly payments, using Lacerte Tax software.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, staying current on updates to tax laws and procedures.
- Collaboration:
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure accurate tax return preparation and adherence to applicable tax laws and procedures.
- Assist in researching complex tax issues and recommend solutions to ensure clients receive accurate and optimal tax strategies.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, taxation, or a related field.
- Current CPA license (or equivalent certification) required.
- A minimum of 15 years of experience in tax preparation, planning, and accounting, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role.
- Expertise in preparing individual tax returns (Form 1040), K-1s, and business returns (LLCs, S-Corporations).
- Proficiency with tax preparation software (Lacerte preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Excellent client management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Ability to conduct in-depth tax research and solve complex issues.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to motivate and mentor a team.
- Highly self-motivated, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
