Summary

The Financial Controller/Senior Team Lead will be responsible for overseeing a financial team and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting to DSV Group, branch managers and Country manager. The Financial Controller will work closely with the Financial Business Controllers, Payroll, Accounts Payable/Receivable and senior management to develop and implement strong financial processes and controls.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Financial Reporting and Analysis/Compliance: Prepare and analyze financial reporting to corporate office, including income statements, balance sheets and cash flow. Ensure that financial information is accurately recorded and reported in compliance with group accounting standard, IFRS and tax regulations. The controller liaises with external internal auditors, supports is tax audits and address any findings or recommendations.
  • General Ledger and Chart of Accounting: Oversee the general ledger, which is the central repository for all financial transactions. Ensure that transactions are accurately recorded, classified, and posted to the appropriate accounts.
  • Manage the month-end and year-end financial close processes, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial statements. Ensure that reporting is provided within the short reporting time line and provide the necessary documentation to external auditors.
  • Conduct financial analysis to support decision-making by senior management and business controllers.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify areas for improvement and implement process that improves the month-end closing.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including auditors and financial institutions.
  • Financial Systems and Technology: Controllers oversee the implementations and maintenance of financial systems and technology tools to streamline processes, improve efficiency and enhance reporting capabilities. Support SAP users with roles & access. Monitor & maintain Cost Object Masters. Align P&L hierarchy/structure to the needs of business management.
  • Financial Policies and Procedures: Enforce Group Financial policies and procedures to ensure consistent and standardized practice across all entities in US, Canada and PR. When necessary communicate these policies to relevant stakeholders and provide guidance.
  • Management Reporting: Provide monthly financial reports including business key performance indicators.
  • Tax Planning and Compliance: Work closely and support DSV tax professional to ensure compliance with tax laws, manage tax planning strategies and prepare and submit accurate tax returns/tax tools. This concerns Federal and State taxes as well as Sales tax and Value Added taxes.
  • Support management with special projects, such as ERP upgrades and roll out, mergers & acquisitions, and integrations.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the finance team, including mentoring and professional development.
  • The Financial controller will be team lead for 4-5 financial controllers.

Educational background / Work experience

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
  • Masters degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
  • CPA or CMA certification preferred
  • At least 5-7 years of experience in public accounting, preferrable big 4 experience.
  • Experience in the transportation and logistics industry is a plus.
