Direct Counsel is seeking a highly skilled Senior Attorney to join a prestigious law firm in their Riverside office. This role is ideal for an experienced litigator with a strong background in jury trials and defending public entities. Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as lead counsel in complex litigation matters, including preparing for and trying cases before a jury.
  • Represent public entities in a variety of legal matters, including but not limited to:
    • Wrongful death claims
    • Trip-and-fall accidents
    • Dangerous conditions of public property
  • Provide strategic advice and legal counsel to clients, ensuring the delivery of exceptional service.
  • Conduct thorough case evaluations, develop litigation strategies, and manage all aspects of discovery and pre-trial proceedings.
  • Supervise and mentor junior attorneys and legal staff as necessary.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable laws and professional standards.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in the California State Bar in good standing.
  • Trial Experience: Proven track record of successfully trying at least five (5) cases before a jury.
  • Public Entity Defense Experience: Demonstrated experience defending public entities or handling tort litigation involving wrongful death, trip and fall, or dangerous condition of public property cases.
  • Exceptional legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to resolve complex legal matters effectively.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a hybrid work environment while managing deadlines and caseloads efficiently.
  • Familiarity with public entity procedures, risk management, and government claims.
  • Proficiency with legal technology, case management software, and e-discovery tools.
