From Google: An FPGA, or Field-Programmable Gate Array, is an integrated circuit that can be configured and reconfigured after manufacturing to perform a specific hardware task. Unlike a fixed-function chip, FPGAs use a user-programmable interconnect to connect configurable logic blocks, allowing them to be customized for a wide range of applications like data processing, AI, and industrial control. Their hardware-level programmability enables real-time performance, custom logic, and the ability to update and fix bugs in the field.
