Overview Carollo Engineers is an internationally recognized environmental engineering firm that specializes in the planning, design, and construction of water and wastewater facilities. We are seeking a Senior Wastewater Process Engineer to lead innovative process design efforts, provide technical expertise on complex wastewater treatment projects, and mentor junior staff while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver sustainable and cost-effective solutions for our clients in Florida and nationwide. Responsibilities Plans, schedules, and conducts engineering work on wastewater and reuse projects of significant size and complexity, with full responsibility over design decisions and quality standards. Specific work will include preliminary design, detailed design, and engineering services during construction. Representative engineering tasks include the development of hydraulic calculations, treatment process evaluations and sizing, preparation and review of technical memoranda, design development and reviews, design management in coordination with discipline engineers (e.g. civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and controls), and QA/QC. Supervises a team of engineers and professionals across multiple disciplines. Mentors entry- to mid-level engineers and supervises their work on project assignments. Provides direction on execution, examples, and reviews. Contributes to proposals and the development of statements of qualifications and proposals. Negotiates critical and controversial issues with top-level engineers and officers of other organizations and companies. Serves as project manager for mid- to large-sized projects and provides overall responsibility for several projects concurrently. Demonstrates creativity, foresight, and mature judgment in planning, organizing, and guiding extensive engineering programs of importance. Initiates and maintains contacts with key engineers and decision makers, requiring skills in persuasion and negotiation. Prepares proposals and interviews, and leads client negotiations after selection. Develops and maintains positive relationships with client management personnel. Identifies the need for and directs subconsultants performing services on projects. Participates in professional associations and technical committees as appropriate. Assists in recruitment and participates in the interview and selection process. Travel as required. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering 10+ years of wastewater and reuse design experience in environmental consulting engineering with emphasis on hydraulics, physical, chemical, and biological treatment processes and treatment plant design for wastewater and reuse; comprehensive experience in treatment plant design is required. Registration as a Professional Engineer Experience managing and designing medium- to large-sized projects with budget, schedule, contractual obligations, and quality management responsibilities Ability to evaluate staff progress and results and recommend major changes to achieve objectives Demonstrated creative, foresight, and mature engineering judgment for solving complex problems Effective communication with clients and project teams Deliver high-quality services within budget and schedule constraints Familiarity with a broad range of wastewater and reuse system issues, including master planning, conveyance, and treatment plant design Knowledge of structural and geotechnical design concepts, analytical laboratory techniques, and familiarity with drinking water codes and regulations Ability to work in a team environment and public speaking proficiency Proficiency in MS Word and Excel Preferred Qualifications 15+ years of wastewater and reuse design experience in environmental consulting with emphasis on hydraulics, physical, chemical, and biological treatment processes and design for water, wastewater, and reuse Experience in MBR treatment and advanced treatment facilities design Experience with MicroStation or AutoCAD Master’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering Design and construction phase experience Experience using tools to manage project financials, schedule, and quality Other Compensation And Benefits Carollo is committed to providing employees with a competitive, comprehensive benefits program that supports healthy, productive lives.
