Position Overview: Golden PAWS Assistance Dogs is currently seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join our team as the Service Dog Assistant Kennel Manager. This position will play a vital role in supporting the Kennel Manager in the day-to-day operations of our kennel facility. The successful candidate will contribute to the health, safety, and overall well-being of our service dogs in training. This position is open to individuals aged 17 years or older.
Key Responsibilities:
- Kennel Operations Support:
- Collaborate in overseeing the daily operations of the kennel facility.
- Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment for dogs.
- Contribute to ensuring proper nutrition, grooming, and exercise for the dogs.
- Support scheduling and coordinating kennel staff shifts and tasks.
- Assist in managing inventory, supplies, and placing orders as needed.
- Staff Collaboration:
- Work closely with the Kennel Manager to provide training and support to kennel staff.
- Participate in monitoring staff performance and providing constructive feedback.
- Contribute to conducting regular staff meetings to promote communication and teamwork.
- Dog Training Assistance:
- Support the training and socialization of service dogs in coordination with lead trainers.
- Assist in reinforcing obedience, task training, and behavior modification exercises.
- Collaborate in documenting and maintaining training records for each dog.
- Healthcare and Record-Keeping:
- Assist in monitoring the health and well-being of dogs, administering medications, and liaising with veterinarians.
- Collaborate in maintaining detailed records of each dog's health, progress, and training milestones.
- Adherence to Standards:
- Support ensuring kennel facilities comply with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Assist in implementing best practices for dog care and seek opportunities for improvement.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a kennel or related environment is advantageous.
- Basic knowledge of dog training principles is a plus.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment.
- Passion for our mission and dedication to the well-being of service dogs and the individuals they serve.
