Criterion Plumbers LLC – Idaho Falls, ID
“The Standard for Excellence”

Pay: $20:00 – $23.00/hourly (based on experience & year in apprenticeship) with 3% commission or

$28:00 - $33:00/hourly without commission

Employment Type: Full-Time | Stable, Year-Round Work

The Role (Plain & Simple)

We’re hiring one service plumbing technician to handle basic residential plumbing repairs while working closely with a senior-level field supervisor for complex diagnostics and system-level issues.

Your main objective is to deliver exceptional 5-star customer service on every visit — setting the stage for a great client outcome, building trust with the homeowner, and acting as the first line of defense inside the home.

You are not expected to solve everything yourself.

You will:

  • Complete the immediate repair professionally and correctly
  • Communicate clearly, respectfully, and honestly with homeowners
  • Identify potential underlying or long-term plumbing concerns
  • Work directly with a field supervisor, who will take over for advanced diagnostics and present any long-term or system-level solutions to the client

This role is not sales-driven and does not require advanced diagnostics. Success comes from workmanship, professionalism, communication, and clean hand offs — not up-selling.

Technical Scope — What You Need to Know

You are expected to be competent (or actively learning) in basic residential service repairs, including:

  • Leaky faucets & dripping shower heads
  • Running toilets & basic toilet clogs (auger-level)
  • Under-sink leaks, P-traps, and exposed piping
  • Garbage disposal jams & resets
  • Dishwasher drainage issues (air gaps, hoses, knockouts)
  • Knowing when an issue is basic vs. needs escalation

Advanced work (mainline camera inspections, gas work, system replacements, complex diagnostics) is handled by senior technicians and field supervisors.

What the Job Actually Looks Like

  • Arrive on time, in uniform, ready to work
  • Enter customer homes professionally and respectfully
  • Diagnose the issue, explain it clearly, and perform the repair
  • Use standard service tools and approved repair methods
  • Leave the workspace cleaner than you found it
  • Follow a repeatable service process that supports you — not micromanages you

Requirements

  • Actively enrolled in the Idaho Plumbing Apprenticeship Program

(or already a licensed Journeyman)

  • Clean driving record & valid driver’s license
  • Drug-free workplace
  • Professional appearance and strong communication skills
  • Coach-able mindset — able to follow established processes
  • Comfortable running single-job service calls independently

Why Join Criterion Plumbers

  • Competitive hourly pay with clear growth tied to skill progression
  • Consistent service work — no feast-or-famine scheduling
  • Defined advancement path from basic service → intermediate → advanced
  • Hands-on training and mentorship from experienced plumbers
  • A company culture built on:
  • Craftsmanship
  • Honesty
  • Accountability
  • Excellence

We respect technicians who do clean, professional work — and we support them.

How Success Is Measured

Your performance is measured by quality and customer experience, including:

  • Consistent 5-star customer reviews
  • Clean, professional workmanship with minimal callbacks
  • Clear communication and accurate issue identification
  • Proper escalation to the field supervisor when appropriate
  • Clean job sites, organized truck, and professional appearance
  • Reliability — on time, prepared, and accountable

Doing the basics extremely well is how you win in this role.
