Pre-Engineered Metal Building (PEMB) Engineering Department Manager
They will lead and oversee the design and detailing team, ensuring the creation of innovative, efficient, and high-quality pre-engineered metal building solutions. This role requires expertise in PEMB engineering, proficiency in Metal Building Software (MBS) and Tekla, and strong leadership abilities to drive collaboration and excellence. The ideal candidate will manage cross-functional teams, maintain quality assurance, and uphold project timelines while fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Direct, mentor, and inspire a team of engineers, drafters, and designers to achieve high-quality outputs.
- Foster a collaborative environment, encouraging innovation and professional growth.
- Develop and enforce departmental standards, best practices, and operating procedures.
- Oversee all phases of the design process, ensuring timely, efficient, and accurate delivery of projects.
- Collaborate with internal teams (sales, manufacturing, and construction) to align designs with project objectives and client needs.
- Conduct regular progress reviews, addressing any delays or issues proactively.
- Lead the development of advanced PEMB designs, integrating client requirements and adhering to industry codes and standards (e.g., MBMA, AWS, AISC).
- Utilize MBS, AutoCAD, and Tekla to oversee and contribute to detailed design documentation and construction drawings.
- Ensure thorough reviews of designs, focusing on structural integrity, manufacturability, and cost efficiency.
- Act as a key point of contact for clients, ensuring clear communication about project specifications and design concepts.
- Address client feedback and resolve design-related concerns promptly.
- Develop technical reports and presentations to articulate design solutions.
- Establish rigorous quality control measures to ensure the accuracy and compliance of all design deliverables.
- Maintain documentation control for construction documents, RFIs, change orders, and design revisions.
- Identify opportunities for modernizing PEMB systems and integrating emerging industry technologies.
- Analyze market trends and contribute to the company's competitive edge through innovative engineering approaches.
Additional Responsibilities
- Supervise the creation of design sketches, engineering drawings, and material specifications.
- Oversee cost estimates for materials and production, ensuring alignment with project budgets.
- Ensure accurate interpretation and application of architectural and structural documents.
- Coordinate with the fabrication department to ensure correct component manufacturing.
- Manage departmental schedules, resources, and staffing to meet project demands.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Structural, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering (or related field).
- 7+ years of experience in PEMB engineering and design, with a minimum of 3 years in a leadership role.
- Proficiency in Metal Building Software (MBS), AutoCAD, and Tekla.
- Strong understanding of PEMB codes, standards, and practices (e.g., MBMA, AWS, AISC).
- Demonstrated success in leading teams and managing complex projects.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
