A leading pharmaceutical organization is seeking an experienced SharePoint Developer to lead a critical upgrade and modernization initiative for their enterprise SharePoint environment. This is a hands-on contract role focused on assessing, upgrading, migrating, and optimizing SharePoint sites to enhance collaboration, security, and user experience while ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.Location: Hybrid – Remote Monday/Friday, Onsite Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday Contract Duration: Through July 2026 (potential extension based on performance and business needs) Key Responsibilities:Conduct a thorough assessment of the current SharePoint site architecture, identifying improvement opportunities, risks, and upgrade paths.Lead the end-to-end technical upgrade process, including detailed planning, customization, testing, content migration, and execution.Collaborate closely with IT (BTS), business stakeholders, and end-users to gather requirements, align on priorities, and maintain business continuity throughout the project.Troubleshoot and resolve any upgrade-related technical issues promptly to minimize operational impact.Develop and document comprehensive processes for ongoing site management, governance, backup, recovery, permissions guidelines, and content ownership.Support user adoption through training sessions, creation of operational guides, launch documentation, and post-launch support.Oversee the successful operational launch of the upgraded environment, verifying accessibility, functionality, and seamless user experience.Monitor performance after go-live, gather feedback, and address any emerging technical or usability challenges.Required Skills & Experience (Top Priorities):Proven expertise in SharePoint Infrastructure Design and Architecture (Online and/or On-Premises), including modern site structures, hub sites, and information architecture best practices.Strong Security and Permissions Management experience, with a focus on role-based access control (RBAC), inheritance, breaking permissions, and compliance in enterprise environments.Solid UI/UX Design capabilities for SharePoint, including wireframing, creating page templates, navigation structures, and modern responsive layouts.Hands-on Content and Metadata Management skills: managing document libraries, content types, metadata, migration strategies, and establishing ownership/transition guidelines.Experience building and implementing Governance Models and testing frameworks, including permissions guides, site health checks, and quality assurance during upgrades/migrations.Qualifications:Demonstrated success leading SharePoint upgrades and migrations (e.g., from legacy On-Premises to SharePoint Online or major version upgrades), with tools like ShareGate, PnP PowerShell, or native Microsoft migration services.Deep technical knowledge of SharePoint configuration, customization (Power Automate, Power Apps integration preferred), and modernization to Microsoft 365 standards.Excellent project management, stakeholder communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills; ability to handle multiple priorities in a regulated environment.Experience with user training, change management, and creating operational documentation is highly preferred.Familiarity with pharmaceutical or highly regulated industries is a plus, but not required.This is a high-impact contract opportunity to drive a strategic platform transformation in a mission-critical environment.
