JOB TITLE: Sheetmetal Technician Sr - Aerospace

LOCATION: Mesa, AZ

PAY RATE: $32.18 per hour

Summary:

  • Under minimal supervision, the Senior Sheetmetal Technician safely lays out, fabricates, and installs parts and equipment on aircraft, adhering to company design specifications and quality standards.

  • This role also involves mentoring and training other technicians.

  • Use schematics, blueprints, and technical instructions to perform sheetmetal layout, fabrication, and installation on aircraft. Ensure compliance with FAA and internal quality standards.

  • Mentor and train other technicians, reviewing their work for quality compliance.

  • Oversee projects, assess task requirements, and procure necessary materials and documentation.

  • Cut and form plastics using blueprints; apply standard procedures for adhesives, sealants, and solvents.

  • Shape and form complex angles using tools according to blueprint specifications.

  • Safely operate shop equipment (brakes, presses, riveting tools, etc.) and use proper hardware for sheetmetal applications.

  • Comply with safety, 5S, and housekeeping policies; ensure aircraft protection (PTP).

  • Conduct monthly 5S audits as needed.

  • Use the material tracking system for parts demand, squawk tracking, and work sign-off.

  • Assist in developing initiatives to meet OGSM requirements.

  • Collaborate with the lead to implement process improvements for safety, cost reduction, and efficiency.

  • Participate in continuous improvement activities.

  • Coordinate with other disciplines on projects.

  • Perform lead responsibilities and other duties as assigned.

Required Skills:

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • 4 years of sheetmetal and/or fabrication experience.

  • Aerospace industry experience preferred.

  • Valid Driver's License required.

  • Advanced knowledge of sheetmetal processes (e.g., forming, drilling, riveting).

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering documentation.

  • Valid Driver's License for operating towing and transportation equipment.

  • Proficient in English (reading, writing, speaking).

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Adaptability to sudden schedule changes.

  • Proficiency in using sheetmetal tools and equipment.

  • Ability to climb ladders, work in confined areas, lift up to 40 pounds, and work any shift.

  • Computer literacy, particularly in Microsoft Office.
