The Elite Group is seeking individuals who are interested in working as a Shelter Support Worker in various locations within North Carolina and Florida.  The Shelter Support Worker will provide ongoing support for all onsite emergency shelter activities including screening, registration, meal services as well as assist with shelter residents with basic needs. Shelter support workers will work in conjunction with the shelter management team to monitor and provide appropriate services to support emergency shelter population.

Availability: Ideal candidates for these response missions will be available to deploy within 24 to 48 hours of notification.

These are contract positions and, if activated, will likely require travel on short notice, generally lasting from several days to a few weeks and possibly 30 days or more, depending on the disaster response needs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure that provisions of mandated services to residents are met daily.
  2. Facilitate client intake admissions and move outs.
  3. Support all non-clinical needs of shelter residents, by greeting, meal distribution. and any other support functions to ensure shelter residents needs are being met.
  4. Complete routine resident and facility checks to ensure the facility is free of potential hazards.
  5. Performs other job duties as assigned to ensure continuous operations.

Requirements

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  1. Ability to work flexible hours to support 24/7/365 shelter operations.
  2. Willingness to be on emergency standby and deployed at short notice.
  3. Ability to assess problems and develop solutions in a fast-paced environment.
  4. Demonstrates excellent customer service and teamwork.
  5. Ability to react promptly and efficiently to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  6. Strong oral communication skills, interpersonal skills, and teamwork ability

Qualifications:

High School diploma or equivalent with a minimum of one (1) years of experience working in the customer service field. Experience working with emergency shelter populations preferred.
