Public Safety Dispatchers are assigned to the Public Safety Facility in Placerville, CA and have the opportunity to serve as Communication Training Officers and Tactical Dispatchers. Check out our website for more information: joinEDSO.org The Selected Candidate Will Have The Opportunity To Receive, analyze and evaluate 911, emergency and business calls, and other public utility service calls; transfers calls to appropriate parties or creates a law enforcement call for service. Operate multi-channel radio systems, monitor other communication channels, while maintaining radio traffic on main channels. Respond to law enforcement-initiated radio traffic and relay information to law enforcement units. Operate computer equipment to access local, state and federal criminal justice information systems; operate communication systems to transmit and receive information with allied law enforcement agencies. Minimum Qualifications and Selection Considerations Sheriff’s Personnel Unit will assess your application to determine if you are minimally qualified. Any combination of the required experience, education, and training that would provide the essential knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. Sheriff's Public Safety Dispatcher II: Experience – Equivalent to graduation from high school; AND One (1) year of emergency dispatching experience at a level equivalent to the County’s class of Sheriff’s Public Safety Dispatcher I. Licenses and Certifications – A Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Professional Public Safety Dispatcher Basic Certificate is desirable. Recruitment Process The Sheriff’s Personnel Unit will screen all applications to identify qualified candidates. Those applicants who meet the minimum requirements for this position will be required to complete a pre-investigative questionnaire. Based on the information provided, applicants may be disqualified based on criteria set forth in Part 7, Section 706.1 of the County of El Dorado Personnel Rules and in conjunction with Sheriff’s Selection Policy 1000. After screening, qualified candidates will be referred to the next step and notified of all further procedures applicable to their status in the recruitment process. Training and Information A training and experience review consists of candidates responding to supplemental questions on the job application.
