Shipping & Receiving Clerk Apply
Job Summary Under minimal supervision Shipping & Receiving Clerk will prepare records of shipments and bills of lading for truck deliveries. Prepare records of receipt of incoming products and post to open orders. Responsible for accuracy of shipping documents and verifying receiving receipts with open orders. Roles And Responsibilities Essential Job Functions Prepare bills of lading or tickets for each shipment and check and record all items loaded for shipment. Investigate inventory discrepancies; notify supervisor immediately. Maintain other shipping records such as goods returned, returnable pallets, etc. On received goods, clerk will check and count all items unloaded from trucks reporting any discrepancies; check, verify, and record the temperature of the product being received. Collect information on damage claims on in-transit damage. Maintain cleanliness of office and shipping dock areas. Transfer product on pallets using a pallet jack and/or a forklift as necessary and load or unload trucks as required. Monitor the temperatures in the cooler rooms where product is stored. Maintain aged fruit detail reports on a regular basis. Follow all food safety and good manufacturing practices. Other duties as assigned or required. Basic Qualifications Ability to perform the essential functions of the position. HS graduate or equivalent. Three+ years’ experience in shipping and inventory control preferably in the produce industry. Previous working experience using a forklift and pallet jack; forklift certification preferred. Commitment to the company’s values and ethics. Skills, Knowledge, And Abilities Highly developed skills in organization, communication (verbal and written) in English; bilingual English and Spanish preferred, problem resolution and customer service skills. Working knowledge of food safety and good manufacturing practices. Knowledge of MS Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook); working knowledge and experience with inventory software systems. Work Demands / Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to manipulate tools or controls, and to talk and hear, to reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. May be exposed periodically to chilled or warm temperatures within the operation. Temperature may vary depending on the time of year (summer, winter).
