JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Department of Human Services at the UVA School of Education and Human Development at the University of Virginia seeks highly qualified applicants for a part-time, 5 week position as Clinical Supervisor in Speech-Language Pathology (SLP).

Dates: June 5 - July 16
Work Hours: 24 to 29 hours (3 to 4 days) per week.

Responsibilities:
The incumbent will provide short term coverage to the Speech and Language Services team in the Sheila C. Johnson Center for Clinical Services (SJC), a trans-disciplinary outpatient training clinic that serves the Charlottesville area. The incumbent will provide clinical supervision and education to graduate student clinicians working toward their Masters in Speech-Language Pathology as they complete individual speech therapy and speech-language evaluations.

Training in clinic-specific supervision and treatment processes will be provided by the clinics team of SLP clinical supervisors who will work closely with the incumbent and provide ongoing support.

Required Education, Licensure and Experience :
Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology (SLP) or related field;
Certificate of Clinical Competence issued by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA);
Virginia License to practice Speech-Language Pathology (or must meet eligibility requirements for licensure);
Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience practicing speech-language pathology;
Experience with at least one of the following areas of clinical practice: child language, speech sound disorders, autism spectrum disorder, fluency disorders, augmentative and alternative communication, or neurogenic communication disorders.
Applicants must have a minimum of 2 hours of professional development, or equivalent, in the area of clinical instruction/supervision after earning the CCC.

Required Skills :
Ability to deliver best practice clinical services to clients and their families;
Ability to interact with various levels of internal and external constituencies with confidentiality;
Good judgment and a professional demeanor;
Strong organizational skills;
Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills;
General knowledge of Microsoft office productivity software (Excel, Outlook, Word) and mobile technology (e.g., iPad).

Preferred Qualifications :
Passion for providing high-quality direct services to clients and their families;
Previous experience providing clinical supervision to in-training or early-career SLPs in a clinical practice setting (e.g., school, medical, or university training clinic);
Clinical experience as an SLP serving children, however applicants with experience across the lifespan will be considered.
