Short-term Consultancy: Social Media Specialist Term: August to December 2026 Location: Washington DC (hybrid - 4 days per week in the office) The $13+ billion Climate Investment Funds (CIF) invests in developing countries to drive sustainable, resilient growth through catalytic climate finance. Since 2008, CIF has partnered with governments and multilateral development banks to accelerate investment in energy systems transformation, resilience, nature-based solutions, and industrial decarbonization, creating pathways for other investors to follow. Through grants and concessional loans, CIF enables more than 80 countries to mobilize capital, with over $10 in expected co-financing for every CIF dollar on average. In 2025, CIF became the first multilateral climate fund to raise new private finance from capital markets through the CIF Capital Markets Mechanism (CCMM). The CIF Secretariat, hosted by the World Bank, supports CIF’s governing bodies across strategy, policy development, and results reporting. It manages institutional relations and strategic partnerships, supports program development, delivers a substantial body of thought leadership and knowledge work, and is responsible for portfolio risk management and new private sector capital mobilization initiatives. We are seeking a Social Media Specialist to join our Communications Team, working from CIF’s offices in Washington, D.C. This locally based role requires a motivated professional with hands‑on experience executing institutional social media content, supporting multi‑platform campaigns, and translating complex climate and development narratives into accessible digital content. Scope of Work Manage CIF’s social media channels, including day‑to‑day channel management and monitoring, managing the social media editorial calendar, and responding to comments, messages, and public discourse in a timely and professional manner. Support the implementation and ongoing refinement of CIF’s social media strategy, including content mix, posting cadence, and audience targeting, in line with CIF’s broader communications objectives. Conceive, plan, and deliver social media campaigns and organic content across LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram, integrating social media into broader multi‑channel communications efforts. Develop, write, edit, and package content for CIF’s social media channels, including posts, graphics, short‑form videos, infographics, and multimedia assets tailored to diverse global audiences. Support the development and management of editorial calendars aligned with institutional milestones, programmatic activities, events, and campaigns. Track and analyze social media performance data, including reach, impressions, engagement rates, click‑through rates, and follower growth, translating findings into clear recommendations to strengthen content effectiveness. Manage CIF’s MailChimp account, including the monthly newsletter, event invitations, list management, audience segmentation, campaign setup, A/B testing, and performance reporting. Assist with paid campaign setup, including conversion tracking and audience targeting, and contribute to regular performance reporting. Conduct social listening and audience research to inform content decisions and track the broader climate finance conversation. Coordinate with CIF program teams, country partners, and implementing MDB partners on joint campaigns, co‑promotion activities, and story sourcing. Perform other duties as assigned in support of the Communications Team. Selection Criteria Bachelor’s degree in communications, Journalism, Digital Media, Marketing, or a related field, with a minimum of 5‑8 years of relevant professional experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
