SIA - Operations Assistant


Spokane International Academy is seeking a passionate Operations Assistant. The Operations Assistant will work closely with administration and students, provide supervision of students throughout the day, and will assist with breakfast, lunch, and attendance tracking. The SIA Operations Assistant should exhibit attributes that allow them to facilitate learning for our students in a way that inspires them to become leaders equipped with the skills our community needs in the future by challenging them academically and in the development of their character. The Operations Assistant is a member of the schools operations team and reports directly to the Director of Operations.


FTE: 1.0

Hours per Day: 8

Typical Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:30 am - 4:00 pm


Major Responsibilities:


  • Operations and Administrative Support
  • Cross train with office staff to ensure coverage if needed
  • Greet visitors, answer phones etc.
  • Assist administrative staff with a variety of tasks as needed, including organizing, filing, etc.
  • Assist with custodial duties when necessary
  • Support any day-to-day operations needs in the building, as necessary


  • Breakfast/Lunch
  • Check in students using a computer system for breakfast/lunch and maintain required reports for auditing purposes
  • Track student breakfast/lunch accounts using both manual and computer systems
  • Help manage and supervise students as they wait in the breakfast/lunch line


  • Transportation
  • Serve as the bus liaison for the main office
  • Maintain the student bus list
  • Ensure that parents are contacted regarding late pickups on campus and at school bus stops


  • Health Room
  • Supervise, facilitate, and record health room visits
  • Maintain health room logs in Skyward
  • Receive training from and communicate with the School Nurse for all health/allergy related issues and immunization requirements.
  • Respect the confidentiality of records and information regarding students, parents, and teachers in accordance with accepted professional ethics, and state and federal laws.


  • Attendance
  • Reconcile attendance, using a computer system and maintain reports for auditing
  • Call families to confirm absences as necessary
  • Track and record late arrivals/early pickups using manual and computer systems
  • Respect the confidentiality of records and information regarding students, parents, and teachers in accordance with accepted professional ethics, and state and federal laws.

  • Enrollment and Scheduling
  • Provide support and guidance for families as they enroll their students into SIA.
  • Manage all of the processes related to on-site school registration and enrollment
  • Work with Curriculum Director to create student schedules


  • Other duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Fingerprint Clearance Required
  • Experience in using educational technology for professional use and to increase student learning outcomes including: Projectors, document cameras, laptops, Google Drive, and online educational programs.
  • Excellent communicator, able to articulate the vision and strategic mission of the school and work collaboratively with families, teachers, administration and board of directors.
  • Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds including varying socioeconomic, cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
  • Demonstrates dynamic, positive qualities and personal characteristics necessary to build trust and effective working relationships with staff, parents, and students.
  • Experience that involves working to create a positive school culture.
  • Passion for Spokane International Academys mission, matched with a strong work ethic.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in charter schools and/or urban education
  • Ability to communicate in language(s) other than English


Supervision

This position works towards a common operational goal and reports directly to the Director of Operations.


Hiring Process
