Company Description Job Description THE SELECTED CANDIDATE WILL BE OFFERED AN HOURLY RATE BETWEEN $25.00 - $30.00. The Administration for Children's Services (ACS) protects and promotes the safety and well-being of New York City's children and families by providing child welfare, juvenile justice, and early care services. In child welfare, ACS contracts with private nonprofit organizations to support and stabilize families at risk of a crisis through preventive services and provides foster care services for children not able to safely remain at home. Each year, the agency's Division of Child Protection responds to more than 50,000 reports of suspected child abuse or neglect. In juvenile justice, ACS manages and funds services including detention and placement, intensive community-based alternatives for youth, and support services for families. ACS is also a key part of NYCs early childhood and education continuum, providing childcare assistance to thousands of child welfare involved and low-income children so they can access safe, affordable, quality care. ACS' Division of Child and Family Well-being (CFWB) has three (3) borough-based Resource Areas (RAs) responsible for verifying and re-certifying the eligibility of all low income (non-TANF) families for voucher child-care services. This includes Eligibility Determination and Administrative which includes Intake, Data Entry and Scanning & Indexing. The Eligibility Case Processor/Caseworker is responsible to process and certify eligibility for voucher cases for families in need of childcare. The Eligibility Case Processor will also liaise with the Eligibility Team Leader to ensure that childcare cases are processed accurately and timely according to office procedures and the appropriate state regulations. Specific responsibilities include but not limited to: - Review case information and determine eligibility for the low-income childcare voucher. - Review childcare case documentation and ensure accuracy and compliance with state and local regulations. - Certify eligibility and/or terminate or reassign childcare enrollments according to criteria, procedures, and regulations. - Recertify childcare eligibility for families receiving subsidies. - Update the Control Log with relevant case status information. - Respond to parents' inquiries regarding issues with childcare eligibility, via phone, email, mail, or in-person. - Troubleshoots/responds to inquiries from social service Agencies/childcare programs re: case status. - Responds to requests from parents/providers/other interested individuals concerning eligibility and enrollment. - Liaise with the Central Intake unit regarding logging-in cases and assignments to the eligibility team. - Compile and assess the information in mail-in recertification cases. - Access HRA One Viewer and/or ACCIS to ascertain case and child information. - May distribute childcare information to parents, providers, and programs. - May scan and index case documents onto the HRA One Viewer. ADDITIONAL INFO: Section 424-A of the New York Social Services Law requires an authorized agency to inquire whether a candidate for employment with child-caring responsibilities has been the subject of a child abuse and maltreatment report. State Central Register screening will be conducted prior to considering a candidate for employment as a Caseworker. Candidates who have been the subject of an indicated child abuse and maltreatment report will not be assigned to any position which requires child-care responsibilities. Employees who have been the subject of such a report may be reassigned or terminated from employment from their positions as Caseworker.
