**SIMON | Ready Mix Driver - Rapid City, SD**Drives a commercial truck equipped with auxiliary mixer to deliver ready-mix concrete to job sites. This position is integral to our ready-mix supply operations, and offers a challenging and rewarding work experience, with the opportunity to work with internal and external customers on a daily basis, as well as help the rest of the team as-needed at the plant site. Highly qualified candidates will have a valid commercial drivers license, clean driving record, and experience driving a commercial vehicle in a similar environment. Drivers who have recently received a commercial license, and/or are working to obtain a commercial license will also be considered. All prospective candidates should enjoy working outdoors in all types of weather, be open to working in a fast-paced environment, and have the ability provide excellent service to internal and external customers. ****Responsibilities:***** Supports the Simon safety culture and other Company strategic initiatives * Maneuvers truck under loading hopper to receive sand, gravel, cement, and water and starts mixer * Slumps loads to specifications/requirements * Drives truck to location for unloading and ensures conditions at job site are safe * Interacts professionally with internal and external customers * Assembles chutes and attaches to truck; operates controls on truck to release concrete down truck chute into wheelbarrow or other conveying container or directly into area to be poured with concrete * Performs daily a pre and post-trip safety check on equipment and truck to assure a safe vehicle; documents any maintenance that may be required * Cleans truck after delivery to prevent concrete from hardening on mixer and on truck * May operate other equipment such as loaders, skid steers, fork lifts, and dump trucks * Assists with the form/pour/strip of precast products * May spray surfaces of truck with protective/cleaning compound to prevent adhering of concrete * Assists work crews as required; assists with maintenance of plant and equipment * Maintains necessary logs, timecards and other required paperwork ****Qualifications, Education, Skills and Experience:***** Class B CDL with Air Brakes and clean driving history * At least 1 year of commercial driving experience preferred * Basic industrial truck maintenance experience preferred, but not required * Ability to work with multiple types of individuals and interact professionally with internal and external customers * Prior experience working with concrete production, construction, and/or related field preferred ****Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:***** Wears and maintains personal protective equipment (PPE) as required * Occasionally required to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance * Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel * Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear) * Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl * Standing/working on feet for long periods, and walking across uneven terrain * Frequent exposure to loud noise * Regularly exposed to all outdoor weather conditions, dust, and airborne particles * Regularly exposed to fuel, oil, and other chemicals ****Workplace Values Requirements:***** Support, promote, and practice Simon core values, vision, and mission * Support, promote, and comply with Simon Code of Ethics, Workplace Conduct, Safety, and other established policies at all times * Embrace the Companys safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by the Safety Steering and Continuous Improvement teams * Align personal vision and goals with larger goals of the Company * Support continuous improvement to improve Simon processes, performance, safety, and overall success The information contained herein is not intended to be an all-inclusive list of the duties and responsibilities of the job, nor are they intended to be an all-inclusive list of the skills and abilities required to do the job.
