Job Summary:

Operates a commercial vehicle to transport aggregate materials (soil, sand, gravel, asphalt, etc.) to and from specified destinations: performs other related duties as assigned in support of material production and construction operations.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Embrace the Companys safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by the Safety Steering and Continuous Improvement teams
  • Support, promote, and practice the Company core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policies
  • Perform pre- and post-trip safety inspections on truck to ensure vehicle operation safety
  • Ensure safe operation of vehicle; document and report required maintenance and/or repair to maintenance team
  • Follow procedures to safely operate vehicle, including securing cargo before, during, and after transit, and positioning blocks as required
  • Keep a clean vehicle, including vehicle exterior and interior of operator cab
  • Safely operate assigned vehicle(s); may be required to operate multiple types of vehicles and vehicle/trailer combinations involved in operations
  • Observe all OSHA, FMCSA, and other industry regulations, company safety policies, and general rules of the road
  • Assist in loading and unloading of materials in truck/trailer bed; may include operation of heavy equipment (including but not limited to a skid steer, loader, or similar)
  • Prepare bill of lading and/or similar documentation for loads transported
  • Maintain accurate documentation related to job assignments as required by the Company
  • Maintain regular contact with supervisor to receive pick-up and delivery instructions
  • Maintain driver logs according to state and federal regulations
  • Perform other projects and duties related to role as assigned

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Class A CDL with endorsements and valid medical card required

Skills:

  • 2 or more years of commercial driving experience preferred; construction experience and experience operating multiple types of vehicles/combinations highly preferred
  • Prior experience in construction or similar industry a plus
  • Ability to operate different commercial vehicles, including but not limited to belly dumps, side dumps, end dumps, water trucks, etc.
  • Ability to maintain a clean driving record and compliance with applicable FMCSA CDL driver requirements
  • Ability to interact on a professional level with internal and external customers and other team members
  • Ability to read and write, and understand English

Physical Requirements:

  • Wear and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
  • Occasionally required to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds
  • Required to work from a seated position driving a commercial vehicle for long periods
  • Regularly required to climb in and out of vehicles and/or equipment
  • Regularly required to use hands to handle and manipulate objects, including vehicle components, and secure hoses, chains, and/or couplings
  • Regularly required to use hands to feel, handle and manipulate objects, write, use a keyboard and/or mobile device
  • Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear), and perform tasks requiring visual acuity
  • Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Regularly required to stand and walk across uneven terrain
  • Frequent exposure to loud noise
  • Regularly exposed to all outdoor weather conditions, dust, and airborne particles; exposure to high temperatures
  • Regularly exposed to fuel, oil, and other chemicals
  • Occasional travel with overnight stays away from home may be required

Compensation and Benefits:

Compensation*: $28.00-$30.00 DOE


  • Estimated target starting compensation; actual compensation to be determined based on assessment of an individuals qualifications, education, and experience relevant to the role.
