Express Employment Professionals is currently recruiting for Site Assistants for the Salem area. We are working with a local organization that serves our community to provide assistance to those in need. The Site Assistant I will support residents with everyday living, which may include assistance with laundry, cleaning, and navigating various resources, depending on resident needs. This position will also support the daily operations, which include regular cleaning, data collection & entry, sorting mail and donations, and assisting in keeping the food pantry stocked.

Pay: $17.50/hr

Schedule: 12:00am-8:30am or 4:00pm-12:30am- Must be flexible on day of the week

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required)

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED); 1 year of case management or social service experience; and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Preferences given to applicants who have a background in Veteran culture and/or security.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
  • Valid driver license insured vehicle available for use on the job, and satisfactory drive record for previous three years, or an acceptable alternative.
  • Candidate must pass a background screening prior to employment.
  • Food Handlers Card required, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
  • This position is subject to Clients Mandatory COVID-19 Vaccination Policy for client-facing positions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive)

Employee will also perform other reasonably related business duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management as required.
  • Assists residents with tasks such as cooking, laundry, cleaning, or any other life skills.
  • Maintains consistent upkeep of shared spaces, including regular, thorough cleaning and sanitation of the facility.
  • Prepares for incoming residents, which may include cleaning & vacuuming rooms, washing linens and ensuring access to resources.
  • Utilizes de-escalation techniques and makes quick decisions in response to resident or guest incidents.
  • Assists with the maintenance and rotation of food in the pantry. May assist Site Assistant II with food orders.
  • Sorts mail, donations, and shipments of supplies.
  • Facilitates data collection and inputs utilization information into the Health Management Information System (HMIS).
  • Occasionally helps with landscaping maintenance. May include trimming, spraying, and assisting residents with planting and harvesting plants in raised garden.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS (Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties and responsibilities)
  • May occasionally require driving motor vehicle to another site or location.
  • Varying shift demands (day/eve/night) may require fluctuations in work schedule, particularly during cold seasonal months.
  • Requires the ability to communicate with others and respond to potential emergencies.
  • Requires frequent personal mobility between areas of the shelter and/or sites.
  • Regularly lift and/or move 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity for handling personal items, food, clothing, sacks, carts and use of computers and written in-take processing.
  • Use of kitchen equipment including, but not limited to range, oven, steamer, dishwasher, and various kitchen utensils.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Occasional urgent situations requiring law enforcement involvement and/or paramedic professionals.
  • Close quarters, often with a client population experiencing homelessness, substance use disorders, and/or severe and persistent mental illness, and/or unpredictable behavior.
  • Occasional exposure to bodily fluids and malodorous air.
  • Potential risk of exposure to COVID-19 and other infectious conditions. Face coverings and other PPE may be required.
  • Indoor work environment with frequent interruptions and demands.
