JOB SUMMARY:
The Site Electrical Engineer is responsible for overseeing the overall power distribution and electrical infrastructure of the plant. The ideal candidate will be a proactive, detail-oriented professional with a passion for continuous improvement and innovative problem-solving. The role involves coordinating electrical equipment design, installation, and maintenance while working closely with maintenance, operations, and external contractors to ensure efficient and reliable power distribution system
Responsibilities
- Oversee the design, specification, and installation of electrical equipment, including transformers, switchgear, Motor Control Centres (MCCs), motors, and control systems.
- Supervise the installation of mechanical equipment, such as conveyors, pumps, and processing systems.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for power distribution lockout procedures.
- Oversee and maintain the plant's electrical infrastructure, providing support to the maintenance team to ensure optimal performance of electrical equipment.
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives for existing and new processing equipment.
- Collaborate with maintenance and operations teams to define specifications for new equipment and plant upgrades.
- Provide direction and input during the tender, analysis, and awarding of engineering and construction contracts.
- Monitor project activities, including cost and schedule management, and provide timely updates to management.
- Coordinate, schedule, and supervise the installation of new equipment.
- Provide field support during project construction and commissioning activities.
- Act as the main plant contact for the local electrical power company.
- Manage electrical savings opportunities from concept through to completion.
- Develop and implement energy management programs and perform energy savings calculations.
Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or an Associate's Degree in Engineering Technology.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in electrical engineering, preferably within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Experience with building automation, energy control systems, commissioning, and energy savings calculations.
Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office and MS Project.
- Knowledge of energy management program development.
- PLC and instrumentation experience is preferred.
