Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) Company: VALIANT Construction Location: Louisville, KY (Projects Nationwide) Job Type: Full‑Time Travel: Required (project-based) VALIANT Construction is a nationally recognized General Contractor, Design‑Builder, and Program Manager delivering technically complex federal construction projects across the United States. Our work supports mission‑critical facilities for the Department of Defense, Department of Veterans Affairs, and General Services Administration. Safety, quality, and accountability are foundational to everything we do. Position Summary: VALIANT Construction is seeking a highly motivated Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) to support federal construction projects nationwide. The SSHO is responsible for implementing and enforcing project‑specific safety programs, ensuring compliance with EM 385‑1‑1, OSHA regulations, and VALIANT safety standards. This role is critical to protecting our workforce, subcontractors, clients, and the public. Key Responsibilities Serve as the on‑site authority for all safety and health matters Develop, implement, and enforce the Site‑Specific Accident Prevention Plan (APP) Ensure full compliance with EM 385‑1‑1 , OSHA, and contract requirements Conduct daily safety inspections, audits, and hazard assessments Lead and document Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs) and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) Conduct site safety orientations, toolbox talks, and safety training Monitor subcontractor safety performance and enforce corrective actions Investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions; prepare reports and corrective action plans Coordinate with the Project Manager, Superintendent, Quality Control Manager, and client safety representatives Maintain safety documentation, permits, certifications, and logs Participate in safety meetings and support continuous improvement initiatives Required Qualifications Minimum 5 years of construction safety experience , preferably on federal projects 40‑Hour EM 385‑1‑1 Training (current) OSHA 30‑Hour Construction Certification Demonstrated experience enforcing safety programs on active construction sites Strong knowledge of federal construction safety standards and best practices Ability to effectively communicate with project teams, subcontractors, and clients Proficient with safety documentation, reporting, and inspections Willingness to travel and work on project sites nationwide Preferred Qualifications Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) Experience on DoD, VA, or USACE projects First Aid / CPR certification Familiarity with design‑build construction environments What VALIANT Offers Competitive salary commensurate with experience Per diem and travel support for project assignments Comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, vision, and 401(k) Opportunities for professional growth on high‑impact federal projects A safety‑first culture backed by leadership commitment Equal Opportunity Employer VALIANT Construction is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
