Weswood partners with contractors, developers, and facility managers to deliver high‑quality installations including lockers, partitions, signage systems, and other specialty building components. The company is committed to safety, craftsmanship, and professional development, making it an ideal training environment for transitioning service members seeking careers in the construction and skilled trades industries. Program Overview The Lead Commercial Construction Installer SkillBridge Internship with WeswoodSpecialties provides transitioning service members with advanced hands‑on training in leading and performing installations of specialty commercial construction products on active job sites. Participants will gain practical experience in leadership, crew coordination, advanced technical installation, project oversight, job‑site safety, and customer communication. During this internship, participants will work closely with experienced Lead Installers and project managers, progressively taking on responsibility for supervising crews, ensuring installation quality, monitoring project timelines, and managing site safety under mentorship. Successful trainees may be considered for full‑time employment as Installers with WeswoodSpecialties upon completion of the program. SkillBridge participants will train in real‑world commercial construction environments, working alongside Lead Installers, installation crews, and project management professionals. This immersive experience includes leading small teams, hands‑on installation, safety enforcement, and coordination with construction stakeholders—providing a strong foundation for careers in advanced construction roles, field operations, and specialty product installation leadership. Key Training Areas Leading and supervising installation crews under guidance Advanced reading and interpretation of project drawings, scopes, and specifications Complex specialty product installation techniques and quality assurance Job‑site safety monitoring and OSHA‑aligned compliance Project coordination with multiple field teams, project managers, and clients Professional communication with contractors, supervisors, and customers Time management, workflow optimization, and productivity oversight on active job sites Enforcing safety, compliance, and quality standards across projects Hands‑On Training Activities Under the supervision of experienced installers and field leadership, SkillBridge participants will gain practical experience in the following areas: Leadership & Crew Coordination Assign and oversee daily tasks for installation crews Mentor junior installers or SkillBridge participants on proper techniques Monitor crew productivity, workflow, and adherence to project plans Support field problem‑solving and decision‑making under supervision Installation & Technical Skills Development Lead and install specialty commercial products including: Lockers Toilet partitions and accessories Signage systems Cubicle track and privacy curtains Other related specialty construction products Troubleshoot installation challenges and ensure adherence to specifications Maintain high standards of installation quality and craftsmanship Project Preparation & Coordination Review project scopes, drawings, and specifications with supervisors Assist in coordinating project timelines, schedules, and resource allocation Prepare and stage materials and tools for installations Participate in communication between field teams, project managers, and customers Job‑Site Safety Training Enforce company safety policies and job‑site safety procedures Identify and address hazards proactively on construction sites Collaborate with the internal Safety Team to manage risk on projects Mentor crew members in safe work behaviors and PPE usage Customer Interaction & Professional Conduct Communicate directly with customers, contractors, and site supervisors Support maintaining strong client relationships through professionalism and responsiveness Ensure quality workmanship and customer satisfaction on all assigned projects Ideal Candidate This program is suited for transitioning service members with experience or interest in construction, engineering, safety, logistics, or field operations.
