We are a 6-doctor, fast-paced large and small animal practice in El Cajon, CA, seeking a full-time Small Animal Veterinary Assistant/Technician. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about small animal care and eager to work in a collaborative and supportive environment.
Responsibilities
As a Small Animal Veterinary Assistant/Technician, your duties will include:
- Assisting with patient intake and client communication.
- Performing radiography, dental cleanings, and dental radiography.
- Monitoring anesthesia and assisting in surgery, including IV catheter placement.
- Conducting laboratory work such as running urinalysis and operating Idexx Catalyst.
- Administering vaccinations, performing nail trims, and expressing anal glands.
- Handling surgery discharges, filling prescriptions, and supporting the team with day-to-day tasks.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of one year in a veterinary assistant or technician role preferred. Licensed Veterinary Technicians are a plus, but equivalent experience will also be considered.
- Skills: Strong communication skills, a professional and friendly attitude, and a team-oriented mindset.
- Eagerness to Learn: Willing to train the right candidate who is motivated and adaptable.
- Experience with Dentals: Applicants with dental cleaning experience will be prioritized.
