Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Snowflake DBA with hands-on experience in Snowflake Administration and expertise in managing multiple relational databases. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the overall management, optimization, and support of Snowflake and other RDBMS systems in a large data warehouse environment. This is a hybrid role based in West Lake, TX and involves production support, on-call rotation, and database design consultation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Snowflake Administration: Perform hands-on administration, monitoring, alerting, and optimization of the Snowflake platform on AWS or Azure.
  • Data Security & Network: Ensure user, data, and network security across the Snowflake environment, implementing best practices.
  • Database Performance & Optimization: Apply DB optimization techniques specific to Snowflake and large MPP systems like Netezza, Teradata, and Greenplum.
  • Automation & Scripting: Develop automation scripts using Shell, Python, or Perl for Snowflake and other database platforms.
  • Data Ingress & Egress: Manage data flows between Snowflake and different cloud service providers (CSPs), ensuring efficient data movement.
  • SQL & Database Design: Work with teams on SQL programming, database design, and consulting on logical/physical database architecture.
  • RDBMS Administration: Support and administer additional RDBMS platforms including Postgres, SQL Server, DB2, Netezza, and Oracle.
  • High Availability & Disaster Recovery: Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and business continuity for all managed database platforms.
  • On-Call Support: Participate in the on-call rotation and provide production support for Snowflake and other RDBMS systems.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with application teams, data modelers, and infrastructure teams to solve capacity, performance, and security challenges.
Required Qualifications:
  • 3-4 years of hands-on experience with Snowflake Administration on AWS or Azure.
  • 5+ years of DBA experience with MPP systems and large data warehouses (e.g., Netezza, Teradata, Greenplum, Hadoop).
  • 5+ years of experience in scripting and automation using Shell, Python, or Perl.
  • Strong knowledge of Snowflake platform architecture and proficiency in SQL and procedural languages (PL/SQL, T-SQL, etc.).
  • Experience in DB optimization and monitoring of Snowflake and other RDBMS systems.
  • Hands-on experience with high availability and disaster recovery architectures.
  • Proficiency in Unix shell scripting and backend programming languages like PL/SQL, T-SQL, NZ SQL.
  • Knowledge of big data ecosystems like Hadoop and MPP platforms.
Preferred Skills:
  • Snowflake Certification or relevant certifications.
  • Experience working in a big data environment and understanding of data warehousing principles.
  • Familiarity with Java, J2EE, Embedded SQL, Forms, and Reports.
  • Experience in collaborating and consulting on logical/physical database design discussions.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills for interacting with business stakeholders and technical teams.
