Harborview Medical Center Social Work has an outstanding opportunity for a Social Worker within the Emergency Department.

WORK SCHEDULE
  • Per Diem

  • Rotating/Variable Shift


  • POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
  • The individual in this position will provide direct social work services to Psychiatric and Medical Emergency Services, Ambulatory Surgery, the Operating Room and observation status patients and their families located in Emergency Services unit.


  • PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Implement social work clinical protocols for patients ranging from infancy through adulthood, including crisis intervention, social work assessment and discharge planning.

  • Prioritize patients in need of psychiatric evaluation, minors, families of patients who are in need of trauma/grief interventions.

  • Work with sexual assault victims, domestic, elder, and child abuse victims, patients with chemical dependency and other pyscho-social emergencies, patients needing nursing home placements and general resources such as transportation and housing.

  • Possess knowledge of legal requirements for vulnerable populations, involuntary treatment for psychiatric patients, and patients with chemical dependencies.

  • Performs related duties as assigned.


  • REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
    A Master of Social Work Degree from a program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education
    AND
    One year of full-time social work experience in a health care setting or equivalent is preferred. Experience can include a practicum placement as part of a social work training program and/or employment experience.

    LEGAL REQUIREMENTS:
    Within 90 days of hire must hold one of the following credentials issued by the state of Washington:
  • Agency Affiliated Counselor, or

  • Licensed Social Work Associate -Advanced, or

  • Licensed Social Work Associate - Independent Clinical, or

  • Licensed Advance Social Worker, or

  • Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker
