Title: Software Development - Process Engineer

Location:GE Transportation(A Wabtec Company), Erie, PA

Job Description:

Support efforts across internal departments and customer facing operations as a member of our Corporate Software Task team. The individual will work with Control and Software Development teams to analyze current systems and design processes for adopting engineering and software development best practices as per organizational standards.

Essential Responsibilities:

- The individual will lead process workshops for developers and functional teams, as well as for key stakeholders.

- Work closely with the business partners to collect product (application) needs and document them as acceptance criteria within feature documents.

- Promote a culture of continuous improvement, setting goals and milestones and assigning responsibility.

- Work with the architecture teams to develop and overall product vision.

- Ensure that the development team always has a planned and prioritized team story backlog.

- Communicate to ensure that dependencies and risks are well planned for.

- Coach managers on industry leading controls and software development practices to ensure adoption of best practices from the top down.

- Prepare, implement, maintain, and audit product development standards, policies, and procedures.

- Work closely with quality organization to define and implement new process.

- Work closely with Product Management Team(s) to create and maintain a product backlog according to business value.

- Champion the use of metrics and other objective measures by teams to ensure defined process deployment.

Desired Skills:

- A quick understanding of new operations and process assessments.

- The ability to ask smart questions and provide persuasive responses.

- Detail oriented with good listening skills.

- Able to create basic tools (spreadsheets, reports) using standard software such as Access, Excel and PowerPoint.

- Creative problem-solving capabilities to meet assigned objectives.

-Training or Certification in Software Development a definite plus!

Qualifications/Requirements:

A degree in Engineering or Business (with operations management experience).
