As a Device Software Development Manager on the Amazon Leo for Government (ALG) team, you will design and develop embedded software for Amazon Leo's satellite and ground systems. You’ll work on fault-tolerant, real-time platforms, collaborating closely with hardware, systems, and product teams to deliver secure, reliable, and high-performance embedded solutions. Key job responsibilities Work with peer teams and customers to design suitable platform software systems and interfaces with underlying hardware. Define, build and lead the SW integration team that is responsible for all embedded deliverables. Develop a strategic plan for the growth of the team, both from a software and integrated mission outcomes perspective. Hire & develop a diverse team of software engineers. Collaborate with your fellow team members to integrate various system elements, both hardware and software. Security Clearance This position requires that the candidate selected be a US Citizen and candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a US Government security clearance of TS/SCI. About The Team Amazon Leo for Government (ALG) is a multidisciplinary team developing targeted and scalable solutions for custom satellite and ground applications. ALG Device Software focuses on embedded software solutions for custom products supporting U.S. and allied government customers. We collaborate closely with hardware and systems teams to deliver secure, high-performance solutions for mission-critical applications. Basic Qualifications 3+ years of engineering team management experience 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems experience 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services experience Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations Experience partnering with product or program management teams Preferred Qualifications Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching, and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.
