Software Engineer 1 - Back-End/DevOps

Overview Captivation is seeking a mid-level software engineer for back-end development and DevOps engineering to support mission-driven work for national security. Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain microservices using Spring Boot and Java. Build and manage RESTful APIs and backend services deployed on AWS (e.g., ECS, Lambda, RDS, S3). Implement CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation). Optimize application performance, scalability, and security. Collaborate with DevOps, frontend, and product teams to deliver end-to-end solutions. Monitor and troubleshoot production systems using tools such as CloudWatch, Prometheus, or ELK. Write unit and integration tests to ensure code quality and reliability. Minimum Qualifications Seven (7) years of experience as a software engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited college or university. Four (4) years of software engineering experience on projects with similar software processes may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree. Security Clearance Must currently hold a Top Secret/SCI U.S. Government security clearance with a favorable polygraph; candidates must be a U.S. citizen.
