Software Engineering Manager (Embedded & Applications)Maidenhead | Hybrid (1 day onsite) | £80,000–£85,000You’ll be stepping into a team that’s grown through acquisition, with different ways of working, different standards ... and therefore a clear need for someone to bring structure, alignment and accountability.The business itself is in a strong position. They’re delivering communication and safety-critical systems into large-scale industrial environments, with demand driven by new product releases and regulatory change. What’s missing is leadership.You’ll take ownership of a team of 8–10 UK-based engineers, alongside offshore and international support, and focus on:Improving delivery and consistency across teamsCreating structure where it’s currently fragmentedDriving accountability and clear ownershipAligning engineering with product and business prioritiesThis is a manager-first role. You won’t be expected to code - but you will need enough technical understanding to guide decisions and challenge where needed.The tech environment spans:Embedded systems (bare metal & embedded Linux)Application layer (C# / .NET)Offshore GUI developmentWhat they’re looking forProven experience managing engineering teams (low level software) (8+ people)Strong focus on delivery, structure and process improvementAbility to step into a fragmented environment and bring clarityYou don’t need to be the most technical person in the room.You do need to be the one who can organise it, align it, and make it deliver.Why this role stands outClear mandate to shape how the team operatesStrong product demand and commercial backingMix of embedded and application engineeringGenuine leadership opportunity without heavy corporate layersIf you’re ready to take ownership of a team, bring structure to complexity, and lead delivery in a growing product environment - this is worth a conversation.
