We are seeking a high-caliber Software Project Leader to lead the development of current and future embedded software systems. This is a critical leadership role responsible for delivering high-performance on-board software for next-generation defense solutions.Position OverviewRole: Software Project LeaderSalary: Circa £70,000 (Dependent on experience)Working Pattern: Dynamic/Hybrid (Typically 4-5 days per week on-site due to workload classification)Security Requirement: British Citizen or Dual UK national with British citizenship. Candidates must undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) checks.The OpportunityAs a Software Project Leader, you will lead a dedicated team through the full product lifecycle, from experimentation and innovation to final delivery. You will be responsible for ensuring that embedded software is delivered on time, on cost, and to the highest quality standards.Key ResponsibilitiesTeam Leadership: Technically manage and mentor a team of software developers in a collaborative, close-knit environment.Project Management: Oversee planning, delivery, and cost control for software work packages.Communication: Provide effective reporting on progress, blockers, and achievements to stakeholders at all levels of the organization.Technical Oversight: Apply a deep understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and configuration management to ensure technical excellence.Estimation & Analysis: Elicit requirements and evaluate design solutions to produce accurate, cost-effective work estimates.Candidate RequirementsWe are looking for an experienced or aspiring leader with a strong focus on team delivery and technical rigor.Management: Proven ability to technically lead a software team.Planning: Strong project management skills, specifically regarding delivery schedules and budget control.Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills across various mediums.Technical Knowledge: * Solid understanding of the SDLC and configuration management tools.Proficiency in UML and C, C++, and/or Ada languages.Experience in embedded software environments.Compensation & BenefitsPerformance Bonus: Up to 21% of base salary.Pension: Total combined contribution of up to 14%.Parental Leave: Enhanced packages including up to 26 weeks for maternity, adoption, and shared parental leave; plus support for paternity, neonatal, and fertility treatments.Health & Wellbeing: Healthcare Cash Plan (optical, dental, etc.) and subsidised on-site facilities.Perks: Free car parking and flexible working arrangements.
