Within the Defense Sector, Leidos currently has an opening for an experienced Scrum Master to work onsite in our Huntsville office. This is an exciting opportunity to use your Agile and SAFe expertise to guide high‑performing teams developing critical counter‑UAS and missile defense solutions.
This position focuses on servant leadership, Agile coaching, and facilitating the delivery of high‑value software increments within a SAFe framework. You will work with cross‑functional teams to remove impediments, drive continuous improvement, and ensure alignment with program objectives while fostering a collaborative environment that enables mission‑critical software delivery.
Primary Responsibilities
Serve as a servant leader and coach for a cross‑functional Agile team, enabling effective delivery within the SAFe framework.
Facilitate Daily Standups, Iteration Planning, Backlog Refinement, Iteration Reviews, Retrospectives, and support PI Planning.
Remove impediments, Escalate risks, and proactively address blockers to maintain team flow.
Support the Product Owner in maintaining a healthy, prioritized backlog and ensuring stories are ready for implementation.
Drive team maturity by promoting Agile mindset, Lean thinking, and continuous improvement practices.
Monitor team performance metrics (velocity, predictability, flow) and guide the team to improve delivery outcomes.
Collaborate with the Release Train Engineer (RTE), System Architect, Product Manager, and other stakeholders across the Agile Release Train (ART).
Ensure alignment with SAFe quality practices and compliance processes.
Foster a collaborative and open team environment.
Support dependency identification, risk mitigation, and cross‑team coordination.
Encourage the team to inspect, adapt, and deliver consistent value.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field with 8+ years of experience or 6+ with Master’s
2+ years serving as an Agile SAFe Scrum Master or Agile facilitator within a large‑scale environment.
Experience facilitating Agile processes and coaching teams.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities.
Strong interpersonal and team management skills.
Ability to identify and remove impediments while promoting team ownership.
Excellent communication, conflict‑resolution, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Currently living in Huntsville, AL or willing to relocate.
Currently holds or has the ability to obtain a Secret clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
SAFe Scrum Master (SSM) or Advanced Scrum Master (SASM) certification.
Strong understanding of Agile Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) practices and process.
Pay and Benefits
Pay Range: $107,900.00 - $195,050.00
