Software Test Engineer – High‑Tech Defence SystemsAlten Nederland is looking for an experienced Software Test Engineer to strengthen one of our multidisciplinary Agile/Scrum teams working on a large‑scale, mission‑critical defence system. This system integrates multiple subsystems into a unified command and control environment, supporting real‑time decision‑making and advanced fire‑control capabilities. You will contribute to the full development lifecycle: from concept and system design to integration, validation, and delivery.About the RoleIn this position, you will focus on improving complex software solutions by preparing, executing, and automating tests within an Agile environment. You will work closely with developers, architects, and system engineers to ensure high‑quality, reliable functionality across multiple components.Your responsibilities include:Executing tests according to the IVVQ strategy and reporting progressIdentifying, documenting, and following up on defectsManaging test platforms and test dataContributing to requirements analysis, design discussions, and product demonstrationsCollaborating within a self‑organizing, multidisciplinary Scrum teamThe software stack includes both Java and C++, supported by a modern development environment and continuous integration pipelines.Technologies and Tools You Will Work WithAgile/ScrumC++ and Java testing (main focus)Linux, IntelliJCI/CD pipelinesJenkins, Artifactory, Maven, Git, BitbucketUnit testing (JUnit), test automation, CucumberAbout YouWe are looking for someone who:Is available on‑site at least 3 days per weekHas a passion for technology and engineering excellenceEnjoys working in a collaborative team environmentHolds a Bachelor’s degree or higher in software engineering or a related fieldHas 5+ years of experience in software testing (C++ and Java)Learns new domains and techniques quicklyIs comfortable diving into low‑level technical details (bit/byte level)Is willing to travel to Romania several times per yearWorking conditionsYou get a permanent contractYou can get a lease car with a fuel cardPossibility of hybrid workingMonthly net expense allowance27 vacation days with the possibility to purchase 10 extra vacation daysPension scheme without personal contributionAbout ALTENALTEN is a global leader in engineering and technology consulting, supporting top-tier clients in their innovation and R&D strategies.
