About The Role AWS is looking for a highly motivated Solutions Architect to join the World Wide Public Sector Nonprofits practice. You'll serve as the technical lead for a portfolio of nonprofit research organizations, helping them design and implement cloud architectures that advance science at scale. This role sits within a sales and business development team — your technical expertise will directly inform planning and strategy. You'll need both the consultative and leadership skills to launch projects on a trajectory to success, and the ability to help diverse groups understand application architectures and integration approaches. What We're Looking For Someone who is passionate about helping nonprofits achieve their missions through technology. You bring: Consultative skills — the ability to listen, understand customer needs, and translate them into technical solutions Technical leadership — comfort guiding architectural design decisions and deep-diving into implementation details Intellectual curiosity — a drive to keep your technical skills current while maintaining a pulse on industry trends Communication skills — experience presenting to small and large groups, from whiteboard sessions to executive briefings Operational awareness — understanding of web site/services operations, management, and security Key job responsibilities Own the technical engagement and success of customer implementation projects Design cloud architectures leveraging AWS services Provide thought leadership on security best practices for applications, servers, and networks Respond to RFPs and define implementation approaches Serve as a subject matter expert on security as it relates to customer applications and services Lead whiteboard sessions, technical deep-dives, and presentations for audiences of all sizes Capture and share best practices across the SA community Collaborate with and learn from some of the brightest technical minds in enterprise architecture Mentor peers and customers while staying current on AWS innovations and industry trends Travel up to 30% A day in the life You'll provide architectural and technical leadership to nonprofit customers leveraging AWS at scale. You'll guide design decisions with customer obsession, ensuring high availability and performance. You'll evangelize best practices, mentor others, and continuously grow your own expertise. Basic Qualifications 5+ years of specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics) experience 5+ years of IT development or implementation/consulting in the software or Internet industries experience 2+ years of design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures experience Preferred Qualifications Experience working within software development or Internet-related industries Experience migrating or transforming legacy customer solutions to the cloud Experience working with AWS technologies from a dev/ops perspective Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.
