Job Summary for an Ultrasound Technologist:
- Performs ultrasound procedures under the supervision of a Radiologist or physician.
- Conducts these procedures in ambulatory and/or hospital environments as requested by a physician or other licensed provider.
- Diagnoses disease and injury according to established protocols.
- Works on weekend day shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, with a possible requirement for on-call duty.
- Based at Baylor Scott & White Memorial Hospital in the Ultrasound Department.
- Offers a sign-on bonus of $10,000 for external candidates.
- Performs high-quality ultrasound procedures according to exam protocol in a timely manner.
- Communicates with patients using AIDET to identify service requirements, ensure correct exams, and establish rapport.
- Prepares patient and area for procedure, including positioning and adjusting equipment.
- Adheres to safety, infection control, drug, and radiation policies.
- Maintains equipment and work area to meet quality and cleanliness standards.
- Verifies and maintains all relevant documentation.
- Adheres to policies, procedures, and workflows, including PACS, EMR, image exchange systems, modality worklist integrity, record management, and BioMed services.
- Maintains medical imaging records in the appropriate system and according to department policies and standards.
- Provides services in a timely, accurate, and cost-efficient manner.
- Demonstrates and maintains current knowledge, continued education, and skills appropriate care for all age groups.
- May be required to serve as a trainer and take on-call duty.
- Requires a High School Diploma or GED equivalent and specific certification/licensure.
