Position Overview:We are seeking an experienced and passionate Sous Chef to join our culinary team. As the second-in-command in our kitchen, the Sous Chef will work closely with the Executive Chef to oversee daily operations, ensure the highest quality of food preparation, and maintain a seamless and efficient kitchen environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Culinary Excellence:
- Assist in the preparation and design of all food and drink menus.
- Produce high-quality plates, both in presentation and taste, ensuring consistency and excellence in every dish.
- Stay updated with industry trends and introduce innovative dishes that align with our steakhouse concept.
- Kitchen Operations:
- Ensure that the kitchen operates in a timely manner that meets our quality standards.
- Fill in for the Executive Chef in planning and directing food preparation when necessary.
- Oversee and organize kitchen stock and ingredients.
- Ensure a first-in, first-out food rotation system and verify all food products are properly dated and organized for quality assurance.
- Team Leadership:
- Manage and train kitchen staff, establish working schedules, and assess staff performance.
- Foster a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior kitchen staff members.
- Health & Safety:
- Comply with and enforce sanitation regulations and safety standards.
- Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen in accordance with health and safety regulations.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef in a fine dining steakhouse or similar upscale restaurant.
- Understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures.
- Excellent record of kitchen and staff management.
- Accuracy and speed in handling emergency situations and providing solutions.
- Familiarity with industry best practices.
- Working knowledge of various computer software programs (MS Office, restaurant management software, POS).
- Culinary school diploma or degree in a related field is a plus.
