About the Role: As an Tutor at Tutor Me Education, you’ll provide personalized, one-on-one tutoring to students with special needs in their homes. You will be responsible for helping students with daily activities, offering moral support, and delivering tailored instruction based on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP).

We are currently hiring for multiple positions across all cities in Bell Gardens, CA

Details:

• In-Person Tutoring in Bell Gardens, CA
• Schedule: 20 hours, 1.5 -2 hours per session
• Pay range is between $25 and $35

Ideal Candidate:

• English/Spanish bilingual tutor (required) with experience supporting students in special education settings.
• Strong background in foundational literacy instruction, including phonics, decoding, reading fluency, and comprehension.
• Experienced in supporting early writing skills such as sentence formation, grammar, punctuation, and written organization.
• Comfortable teaching foundational math skills, including basic operations such as multiplication and division.
• Patient, calm, and consistent, with the ability to support students who experience frustration or emotional dysregulation.
• Skilled in using positive behavior supports, clear expectations, visual aids, and structured routines.
• Able to build rapport and trust while maintaining firm, supportive boundaries.
• Comfortable completing a required academic assessment to guide instruction.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide individualized instruction in foundational literacy skills, including phonics, decoding, reading fluency, and comprehension.
• Support writing development through sentence starters, modeling, graphic organizers, and explicit instruction in grammar and punctuation.
• Deliver foundational math instruction focused on basic operations and problem-solving skills.
• Implement visual supports, step-by-step instruction, and repeated practice to reinforce learning.
• Use positive reinforcement, praise, and scheduled breaks to support engagement and reduce frustration.
• Support communication development using visuals and modeling to help the student express ideas more effectively.
• Conduct an academic assessment to determine current instructional levels and inform targeted intervention planning.
• Incorporate student interests (e.g., music, outdoor activities) to increase motivation and engagement.
