Spark Operator - 3rd Shift Apply
Entry Level Machine Spark Operator – 3rd Shift Judd Wire Inc., a Sumitomo Electric Group company, is looking for a 3rd shift Entry Level Machine Operator‑Sparker in our Turners Falls, MA manufacturing facility. Individuals will be responsible for a variety of duties including performing required operations connected with measuring, inspecting, testing, and re‑spooling wire and cable in preparation for shipping or its next operation. Targeted job training is provided for all skill levels starting on Day 1 and throughout your career at Judd Wire. Hiring Range: $19.28‑22.91 /hour, $3.00 /hour 3rd shift differential. Job Duties Set up wire or cable on sparking machine, select proper counter eyes, and apply prescribed sparking voltage. Maintain proper traverse while operating the machine at the fastest allowable speed. Set up voltage tester, test wire and small cables at prescribed voltage, and check continuity tester to insure there are no breaks or shorts. Visually examine and inspect wire/cables as they are pulled through the machine to detect sparking (defects); identify areas of defective insulation and cut out defective pieces. Use micrometer to check conductor for proper size, check appearance of insulation, and centering of copper wire in the insulation; tag reel in accordance with specifications and direct to the next operation. Detect and report any unusual conditions. Defective materials or other malfunctions: maintain equipment and work area in a clean and proper condition. Observe safety regulations and, if desired, cross‑train on other machines throughout the plant. Ability to work a flexible schedule. Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Knowledge of ordinary arithmetic including decimals, fractions, and simple use of specifications together with adjustable measuring instruments. Be a team player, enjoy detailed work, and be willing to learn. Physical Qualifications Position requires moderate physical effort consisting of frequent moving, average weights, lifting up to 50 lbs., pushing, pulling, etc. Long periods of standing and continuous mental and visual attention to repetitive work, requiring constant alertness or activity. Working conditions may expose employee to noise, fumes, dust, hot and cold temperatures, etc. About Judd Wire, Inc.
