Position Summary
Under the direction of the Head Womens Water Polo Coach, the Second Assistant Womens Water Polo Coach will support and enhance the mission of the San Diego State University Athletic Department. The incumbent will be responsible for assisting in the direction of the Water Polo program, performing a variety of coaching functions related to the sport of water polo in the Athletic Department. These coaching functions include but are not limited to the following: administrative duties, coaching, teaching, and organizing team travel operations/ logistics.
This is an intermittent hourly (approximately 15 hours per week), temporary position with an appointment end date of May 20, 2024. Work hours are on an as-needed basis and will vary based on operational needs. This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation.
The individual hired into this role will work on campus at SDSU in San Diego.
Department Summary
The Department of Athletics, utilizing the services of over 150 employees, is responsible for the intercollegiate athletics program at San Diego State University. Currently, there are 19 sport programs, approximately 550 student-athletes, and 17 offices in the department. The offices include the following: The Aztec Club, Administration, Athletic Medicine, Business Office, Compliance, Corporate Sales, Development, Equipment, Event Management/Facilities and Operations, Human Resources, Information Technology, Marketing, Media Relations, Strength and Conditioning, Student-Athlete Academic Support Services, Ticket Office, and Video.
Education and Experience
3-5 years of water polo coaching experience at either the high school or collegiate level is preferred
Experience working with female athletes
6 months - 1 year Administrative experience is preferred
Compensation
Pay rate is $25.00 per hour.
