Job Description
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A full-time special education teaching opportunity is available in Williamstown, MA, serving an elementary school setting. This role focuses on providing instruction and support to students with significant cognitive and physical disabilities in self-contained classrooms. Candidates will work with young learners in grades K-1 and 3-5, addressing complex needs including toileting assistance and communication challenges.
Qualified candidates will bring experience with specially designed instruction tailored to individual student goals. Familiarity with applied behavior analysis (ABA) techniques is highly preferred, as some students receive Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) support. The position requires strong collaboration skills as part of a specialized team managing severe caseloads.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized instruction in self-contained special education classrooms
- Support students with complex physical, cognitive, and communication challenges
- Assist with toileting and other personal care needs
- Implement specially designed instruction and behavior management strategies
- Collaborate with RBTs and other educational professionals to maximize student progress
- Maintain accurate records and document student performance
Desired Qualifications:
- Teaching certification in special education
- Experience with students on the autism spectrum and significant disabilities
- Knowledge of ABA principles and applied techniques
- Ability to work onsite full time and manage multiple students with severe needs
