Work Hours: 35 per week

7:30AM - 2:30PM

We seek two (2) Middle School Special Education Teachers for one of our partner districts in Illinois. The teacher is responsible for implementing the individual education programs and evaluating student progress for students in special education. Assesses special needs of individual students and collaborates with staff in meeting those needs.

In this role, you will work as an employee of Teachers On Demand, INC. Depending on your performance, the district may offer you a full-time role as a district employee.

Requirements

Must possess:

  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with:
  • Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS) endorsement

  1. Maintains appropriate student records.
  2. Provides instructions to classroom and 1-1 paraprofessionals and engenders a team atmosphere.
  3. Motivates students through positive feedback based upon their i.e.p.s and school-wide PBIS, if appropriate.
  4. Participates in district and school committees.
  5. Maintains a clean, attractive and safe learning environment.
  6. Maintains positive relationships and works with parents to achieve student objectives.
  7. Attends meetings as required.
  8. Supervises pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned work day.
  9. Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs.
  10. Participates in faculty committees and the sponsorship of student activities.
  11. Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and in self-selected professional growth activities.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties and responsibilities.

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger handle, or feel: reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  The employee frequently is required to stand and walk.  The employee must frequently lift and/or move from 10 to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with assistance.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

 

Benefits
