JOB DESCRIPTION:

What you will be doing:
  • Provide Academic, Character, and Cultural formation for students in an inviting and growth-oriented classroom setting.
  • Direct the academic growth and development of students, aligning with ambitious growth standards.
  • Provide academically excellent and character-rich classroom instruction.
  • Engage students using an inductive, inquiry-driven, collaborative, and rigorous curriculum aligned with national and state standards.
  • Nurture a love of learning in students demonstrated by their sense of wonder, spirit of inquiry, depth of insight, perseverance, and joy.
  • Strengthen a school-wide culture of inquiry.
  • Cultivate students' higher-order thinking skills, including their ability to analyze, create, synthesize, and evaluate.
  • Establish and maintain high academic and social expectations for all students through personal accountability for student achievement and development.
  • Model the mission through professional dress, core virtues, professional norms, and ongoing professional development.
  • Develop meaningful relationships with students and families to inspire a love of learning and academic success.
  • Forge and maintain collaborative and collegial relationships with colleagues, parents, and community members.
  • Attend mission-critical programming such as summer development sessions, professional development, data days, parent workshops, and conferences.
  • Establish and communicate standards- and content-based objectives, regularly evaluating student progress.
  • Collaborate with AP and Instructional Specialists to reflect on and analyze student achievements to inform and differentiate instruction.
  • Implement individualized learning technology programs consistently.
  • Maintain accurate and complete student files and academic records.
  • Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic, and ability backgrounds.
  • Organize and manage time and commitments efficiently to maximize productivity.
  • Model courage, justice, wisdom, and self-control, while maintaining a positive and flexible attitude.
  • Challenge assumptions about teaching and learning to best meet students' needs and the organization's mission.
  • Deepen content mastery of Classical education by reading Classical texts and exploring Classical pedagogy.
Experience you will need:
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited institution.
  • Possession of current teaching certification as an elementary school teacher.
  • Relevant urban, elementary teaching experience with demonstrated student results (preferred).
  • Special Education credential and experience (highly desirable).
  • Spanish language proficiency (preferred).
